Electrical tape is well known to everyone – it provides insulation between various connections.

Kapton is a special type of material that is resistant to high temperatures and does not conduct electricity. When it is thinly rolled out and adhesive tape is placed on it, we get a kapton tape. In electronics, it is often used to protect plastic components from damage during soldering and as an insulator.

The desoldering wick is a very practical aid during soldering. It is an interwoven copper wire soaked in flux to catch the solder. If you have a spot where you need to remove the solder, this tape will do a great job. Unlike the desoldering pump, this tape can completely remove the solder from the hole or from the pad.

Where do we use flux? Flux is used by soldering. It is used to clean the pcb from any dust or oxidation (if there was any), which results with quality solder connections – solder attaches more easily to the pads where we want to put solder. Besides that, it improves electrical contact. Anyone who has tried it will know!

Soldermask is a layer on a printed circuit board that gives it a color, usually green, and is used to protect the tile from corrosion, easier soldering and visual appearance. This soldermask is in a liquid state, so you can easily apply it to places you want to protect further, such as wires that have been added or lines that have been damaged. It enters the solid state under UV light.

Desoldering wick is a very practical tool for every workshop. It’s a braided copper wire, soaked in flux, so it catches solder effectively. If you have a spot from which you need to remove the solder, this strip will do a great job. Unlike the discharge pump, this strip can completely remove the solder from a hole or a pad. 1.5m should last long since you spend only one or two centimeters per one desoldering.
