Make a colorful impression with the Inkplate 13SPECTRA, a 13.3-inch all-in-one color e-paper development board with 1600 × 1200 resolution across six vivid colors: black, white, yellow, red, blue, and green. Powered by E-Ink's Spectra™ 6 technology and driven by the powerful ESP32-S3 with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 LE, it's perfect for smart home dashboards, digital art frames, personal calendars, and large-format IoT displays. Under the hood, the dual-core 240 MHz Xtensa LX7 processor pairs with 32 MB of flash and 16 MB of PSRAM. With an ultra-low 14 µA deep sleep current, your projects can run for weeks on a single Li-ion charge.
Inkplate 13SPECTRA is built for makers who want a large, colorful e-paper canvas for displaying photos, dashboards, calendars, or digital art. A full-screen refresh takes around 19 seconds, so the display is best suited for static or occasionally updated content. With ready-made examples, open-source hardware files, and support for Arduino IDE, MicroPython, ESP-IDF, and LVGL, Inkplate 13SPECTRA is an amazing fit for both at-home prototypes and production-style embedded e-paper applications.
The Arduino library includes optimized dithering algorithms for vibrant photo rendering, and Sparkle partial-update support lets you refresh only the region of the screen that changed, ideal for dashboards, counters, and notification panels. Expand your build with three Qwiic (I2C) connectors, a microSD card slot, a GPIO expander, and USB-C for programming and charging. The onboard RTC PCF85063A with CR2032 backup ensures precise wake-up timing for scheduled updates. A USB-C to USB-C cable is included in the package, so you can start using it right out of the box.
Inkplate 13SPECTRA offers native support for both ESPHome and ESP-IDF, providing flexibility for any development workflow. For smart home enthusiasts, ESPHome enables seamless integration into the Home Assistant ecosystem using simple YAML configuration files to deploy dashboards and sensor readouts. For advanced engineering, native ESP-IDF framework support grants complete low-level control over the onboard Espressif processors. This enables developers to implement custom power management routines, maximize battery efficiency during deep sleep, and optimize wireless performance for production-ready IoT applications.
Choose from two versions: the Inkplate 13SPECTRA with e-Paper, or the with e-Paper Enclosure and Battery version which additionally includes a custom 3D-printed case and a 3000 mAh Li-ion battery, all hooked up and ready to go. Both the hardware design and the software are fully open source, with complete schematics, KiCad board files, and enclosure STL files available for download.
If you're ready to go big, bold and colourful with e-paper, Inkplate 13SPECTRA is the board for you!
