Description
The Soldered Refill 2.0 Kit is a restock of the parts that run out first. It holds 100 resistors, 15 capacitors, six potentiometers across two values, an LED pack, a passive buzzer, an NE556 dual timer, a large breadboard and a jumper wire set.
There is no microcontroller in the box. That is the point: the kit is meant to sit next to a board you already own, whether that is a NULA, a Dasduino or anything else with 3.3 V or 5 V pins, and top up the pile of components you keep burning through.
It also covers ground the beginner kits leave out. The three IRLZ44N logic-level MOSFETs switch 12 V LED strips, DC motors, pumps and solenoids from a single GPIO pin, far past what a pin can drive on its own. The NE556 holds two complete 555 timers, so you can build blinkers, tone generators, sirens and delay circuits with no code at all.
What's included
- 50x 330 Ω THT resistor, 5%
- 50x 10 kΩ THT resistor, 5%
- 10x 100 nF 50 V ceramic capacitor
- 5x 10 µF 25 V electrolytic capacitor
- 3x 10 kΩ THT potentiometer
- 3x 100 kΩ THT potentiometer
- 5 mm LED pack, 13 pieces in assorted colours
- 5x 10 kΩ photoresistor
- 5x small THT pushbutton
- 3x SPST panel switch, 17 x 13 mm
- Passive buzzer QMB-09B-03
- 10x 1N4148 signal diode
- 10x NPN transistor, TO-92
- 3x IRLZ44N logic-level N-channel MOSFET, TO-220
- NE556 dual timer IC, DIP-14
- Large breadboard
- Jumper wire set for breadboard
Every part is through-hole, so all of it goes straight into the breadboard with no soldering. The only exception is the panel switch, which is built for mounting through an enclosure panel and needs wires soldered to its lugs first.
Technical Specifications
- Resistors: 50x 330 Ω and 50x 10 kΩ, through-hole, 5% tolerance
- Capacitors: 10x 100 nF 50 V ceramic, 5x 10 µF 25 V electrolytic (polarised)
- Potentiometers: 3x 10 kΩ and 3x 100 kΩ, through-hole
- MOSFETs: IRLZ44N, logic-level N-channel, TO-220, 55 V drain-source, 47 A continuous drain current, on-resistance about 0.022 Ω specified at 5 V gate drive
- Transistors: general-purpose NPN, TO-92 package
- Diodes: 1N4148 signal diode, 100 V reverse, fast switching
- Timer IC: NE556, two independent 555 timers in DIP-14, 4.5 V to 16 V supply, each output sinks or sources up to 200 mA
- Photoresistors: 10 kΩ light-dependent resistors, a few kΩ in bright light rising to hundreds of kΩ in darkness
- Switches: 5x small THT tactile pushbutton, 3x SPST panel-mount switch 17 x 13 mm (latching, solder lugs)
- Buzzer: QMB-09B-03, passive, needs a drive signal such as tone()
- LEDs: 5 mm through-hole, 13 pieces in assorted colours
- Breadboard: large, supplied with a jumper wire set
- Compatibility: any 3.3 V or 5 V development board. The NE556 requires at least 4.5 V and will not run reliably from a 3.3 V rail.
